The third-level fire at Wing Shui House, Lek Yuen Estate, Sha Tin last afternoon (24th) resulted in 1 death and 5 injuries, of which 2 were in serious condition.

In the early morning of Friday (25th), the police stated that the male deceased had been suffering from depression and mania for 8 years and had a medical record.

Yesterday morning, the deceased had a dispute with his mother. Afterwards, he and his grandmother were left in the house. In the afternoon, he injured his grandmother with a cooking wok. Afterwards, the neighbor heard the sound of knocking wood and glass. A fire broke out in a few units. .

Shatin Police District (Criminal) Chief Inspector Pan Yueqian stated that there was no domestic violence record in the family involved, and the deceased had no superficial injuries, but his body had been submerged and an autopsy was required to determine the cause of death. As for the suspected combustion aid found in the unit, the police must also For investigation, the case was temporarily classified as "fire" and "corpse found", and the District Crime Squad of Sha Tin Police has taken over and followed up.

It is understood that the 37-year-old man, his parents, grandmother, and his family of 4 lived in a unit on the 5th floor of Rong Rui Building; the deceased came to Hong Kong from the Mainland for 2 years and was unemployed. He suffered from depression and mania for about 8 years before his death. Doctors and government doctors seek medical treatment; their parents have come to Hong Kong from the Mainland for 6 and 4 years respectively; as for the grandmother, they have lived at the site for more than 20 years.

At nearly 1 am today, the body of the deceased was sent to the mortuary by the workers, but because the elevators in the building were out of service, the workers had to take the stairs from the 5th floor to lift the body down the building.

Sha Tin Police District (Criminal) Chief Inspector Pan Yueqian stated that the family involved had no record of domestic violence.

Yesterday morning, the deceased man had a dispute with his mother. His mother left the residence afterwards, leaving only the deceased and grandmother.

At about 3:30 in the afternoon, the deceased also quarreled with his grandmother and attacked with a cooking wok. The grandmother's foot had 4 cm long scars. She immediately went to the underground lobby to ask for help and report the crime.

Fifteen minutes later, a neighbor heard the sound of knocking wood and glass from the involved unit; and at about 4 pm, heavy smoke emerged from the involved unit, and a report from the residents was received 3 minutes later.

Pan Yueqian said that the fire department found a male dead in the burning unit, but because the unit had no lights and due to the high temperature, the water channel was melted and bursted. After the incident, water must be pumped for investigation.

Initially, the deceased had no superficial injuries, but his body was submerged. The cause of death must be determined by a forensic medical examination. The firefighter found a suspected oxidizer in the unit involved, and the police and firefighters must also conduct further investigations to find out what kind of oxidizer. Later, scientific forensics personnel will also be present to search for evidence.

The authorities received a report of the third-level fire at about 4:03 pm and put out the fire at about 5.41 pm.

The fire caused 1 death and 5 injuries. The injured included 2 men and 3 women, all of whom inhaled heavy smoke. 300 residents needed to be evacuated, and a poodle in one unit died.

According to the Information Services Department, the injured were between 73 and 94 years old. As of midnight today, one man and one woman (76 and 73 years old) were in serious condition.

The police stated that they had cooperated with the Home Affairs Department and the Social Welfare Department to provide assistance. About 50 affected residents temporarily used the Lek Yuen Village Community Hall.

At the time of the fire alarm, the unit burst into flames, and a blackened hand stretched out suspiciously for help.

The owner of the dog, Ms. Lan, lives on the 5th floor. She cried and said that her dog was named "Zai Zai" and had been keeping it for about 10 years. She pointed out that there was no one in the house at the time of the fire. The smoke was so dense that she could not enter. She gave the key to the firefighter to rescue the dog, but when she was rescued, "Zi Zai" was completely blackened and "would be soft."
