A mother of two celebrates an anniversary for her tree - but she "betrays it" with a human being

Kate Cunningham and her elder tree celebrated their first wedding anniversary this week in a small celebration with close friends and flowers.

Although she says her 15-year-old son is a little embarrassed by the whole thing, she hopes that their relationship will not end prematurely - due to the threat of cutting down the tree in favor of paving a highway

Kate's Wedding Ceremony with a Core - The Wood (FACEBOOK)

Kate Cunningham obeyed instructions to limit the gatherings and celebrated her first wedding anniversary accompanied by only two close friends.

In fact, her relationship survived the first year of marriage much thanks to the outbreak of the corona virus that delayed her husband's execution - an elder tree.

Kate Cunningham, of Septon, Merseyside, got married last year to Wood after leading a campaign to halt road works at Rimrose Valley Park where he stands.

She admits that her marriage was also meant to mark territory and prevent jobs in the place - and also because she just fell in love with him and that the bond between them helps her feel better about herself, just like in human relationships.

Kate Cunningham who changed her last name to Elder (Sambuck), after the tree, celebrated their wedding anniversary last week with two close friends and a few bouquets and claims the two are "in love more than ever".

The 38-year-old said the tree marriage in September last year was one of the best decisions she had made.

Not sure the tree knows, but Kate also has a relationship with a human who honors her marriage to the tree.

She admits that her 15-year-old eldest son is a little embarrassed by his mother's conduct - although he now understands why she made that choice.

"I think getting married was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life," she told the Mirror in an interview. "Not once did it occur to me that I might not have had to do it. 15, he sees the bigger picture now and understands why I did it. It's something that made me feel more confident. I do not care what others will say. The marriage to the tree gave me a new purpose in life. "It gives me a completely refreshing feeling. It's like in a marriage with a person, I feel like a person who has changed."

Kate sounds like a girl in love when she talks about her husband.

"He's stunning. The way the branches blend into each other and the color of his bark make him 'magical' to me. As soon as I saw him, I knew he was the one. He didn't look like anything else around him. I walked around the park for hours because he was huge and just felt like it. Trees "They're like people. Sometimes you just know."

The former teaching assistant said that sometimes she comes to visit the tree 5 times a week.

She said: "The trees will always come first. They keep us alive."

Kate, who works as a caregiver for her young son who suffers from autism, added: "My friends and I came to the tree a few days ago and had a little celebration. We lifted to life and drank a glass of black elderberry."

Kate said of the quality time she spends with her husband: "I make sure to stop there from time to time, even if it's just a five minute stroll. I like to just sit there and ring in the atmosphere. I love the peace and quiet of the place. I often like to talk to the tree, I say hello to him and thank you for his good energy. "

This is what the wedding looked like:

A year ago, Kate and Sambok held a wedding ceremony, which was attended by dozens of guests and featured local musician and poet Davey Edge.

Kate wore an olive dress and a floral headdress for the occasion, which was inspired by an activity in Mexico that held similar ceremonies as a form of protest to raise awareness of illegal logging and land clearing.

She also hoped the insane tactics would draw attention to a campaign to save Rimrose Valley Village Park from paving a new detour.

Local residents have launched a campaign to stop the new five-kilometer detour that is expected to be paved there.

As noted, work was scheduled to begin in the spring of 2020 even being postponed due to the outbreak of the corona virus.

Kate is planning a big wedding party when their campaign manages to officially stop the plans.

She calls for an "annual tree anniversary" and encourages more Britons to marry their local tree.

She added: "Since we met I feel like a stronger and better person who is more dedicated to the campaign than ever. Although I deal with this specific campaign, I think about destruction all over the world. This world is pretty beautiful, too bad to ruin it."
