The Prime Minister admitted this Thursday evening on the set of France 2 not to have downloaded the StopCovid contact tracing application.

The answer sounds like an admission of failure.

To everyone's surprise, Prime Minister Jean Castex declared this Thursday evening, on the set of the program "Vous ont la parole" of France 2, that he had not downloaded the StopCovid application, however promoted by the government to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

“Have you downloaded the StopCovid application on your phone”, asks Léa Salamé.

"No", admits the Prime Minister, tit for tat.

" But why ?

»Asks the journalist who, obviously not expecting this answer, stifles a laugh.

"Yes, I push the French to do it, but I did not do it, because here it is ... I will be honest with you", continues Jean Castex, who then tries to justify himself: "StopCovid, it ' is interesting when you go in the metro, when you meet people ... Unfortunately, the performance of my duties means that I no longer take the metro even if I regret it.

(...) I see a lot less people today.

"

Neither Schiappa and Dupond-Moretti

The unconvincing explanation even makes the ministers present in the audience of the show smile, whose eyes can be seen narrowing under the masks.

“There is Bruno Le Maire whom you meet who is ill,” Léa Salamé nevertheless reminds him, before asking other members of the government if they have downloaded the application.

Marlène Schiappa, Minister Delegate in charge of Citizenship, and Eric Dupond-Moretti, Keeper of the Seals, admitted not having done so.

"Cruel admission of failure"

Confessions that did not fail to provoke a number of reactions on social networks.

Following the example of the deputy (RN) of the North, Sébastien Chenu: “The direct sinking of the Prime Minister perfectly symbolizes the sinking of the State.

Ministers who do not have the #StopCovid app.

"Or even the president of the deputies LR Damien Abad:" Cruel admission of failure for Stopcovid: even Prime Minister Jean Castex did not download the application.

We are no longer except for a contradiction in this Government.

Where has the government doctrine gone?

Only 2.5 million users

The StopCovid application, released in June, should allow its users to be warned if they have recently passed, less than a meter and for more than 15 minutes, another user who has been found to be infected with SARS -CoV-2.

However, it was criticized as soon as it was released, some fearing that it represents a first step towards a surveillance society, and its effectiveness is currently considered limited.

By mid-September, only 2.5 million people had installed the app.
