President Trump is expected to announce tomorrow his candidate to replace late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

As the announcement date approaches, there are increasing reports that the favorite for the position is Conservative Judge Amy Connie Barrett.

The president announced on Tuesday that contrary to reports during the week, he does not intend to meet with Barbara Goa, another judge who was on the list of finalists.

Goa, a Florida judge of Cuban descent, was also considered a favorite, not only because of her record on the judiciary, but also on the assumption that her election could advance Trump's election in Florida, one of the key states in the election.

Meanwhile, at least, the president seems to be tending to go in a different direction, and on Tuesday made it clear that he will not meet with Goa during his visit to Florida this weekend.

"She's on my list," Trump insisted, referring to Legua. "I don't have a scheduled meeting with her, but she's on my list."

One way or another, Barrett's candidacy appears to have been further bolstered by Republican lawmakers, who on Wednesday sent a letter to the president urging him to appoint the judge from Chicago.

"We are convinced that it will respect and protect the original text of the Constitution," members of Congress wrote.

Trump, who arrived yesterday to pay his last respects to Judge Bader Ginsburg whose coffin was placed at the foot of the Supreme Court, explained that he considered it important to appoint a replacement even before the election, in case the court had to decide matters related to the vote.

The president also heightened democratic fears that he would not give up his post even if he lost, and on Tuesday refused to commit to an orderly change of government.

"We'll have to see what happens," he said at a White House briefing.

He again complained about the postal vote, which he claimed was full of forgeries, saying that if it was waived, "there would be no exchanges, there would be continuity."

The White House has made it clear that Trump will accept the election results.

Whoever came out against his words was actually the head of the Republican majority in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, who along with him promotes the quick appointment of a replacement for Bader Ginsburg.

"The winner of the November 3 election will be sworn in on January 20," McConnell clarified in a tweet.
