Guadeloupe MP Max Mathiasin indicted

The deputy of Guadeloupe Max Mathiasin was placed Thursday under the status of witness assisted in an investigation and "indicted for breach of trust and misappropriation of public property" on another Wednesday, said the prosecution of Pointe-à-Pitre .

Thursday, Max Mathiasin, questioned in the presence of his lawyer, was also placed by the examining magistrate "under the status of assisted witness for complicity in concussion", Michaël Ohayon told AFP.

This investigation, relating to the alleged embezzlement of sums "greater than 500,000 euros", between 2001 and 2018, at the Pointe-à-Pitre School Fund, had already led to the indictment of the former manager of this Fund. and his agent at the time.

A request for the lifting of Mr. Mathiasin's parliamentary immunity, formulated in November 2019 in the context of this case, had been refused by the National Assembly.

As an assisted witness, the deputy cannot be referred to the criminal court for this case.
