A level 3 fire broke out at Wing Shui House, Lek Yuen Estate, Sha Tin yesterday (24th), causing 1 death and 5 injuries.
Due to the violent fire, the internal and external walls of the burning unit were blackened, and heavy smoke engulfed the opposite unit. An elderly woman could not escape. She had to climb out of the window and sit on a clothes rack to wait for rescue. The scene was shocking.
The same floor and upper floors also kept smoking, and residents evacuated in a hurry.
Although the fire alarm was put out, firefighters needed to investigate the cause of the fire and its aftermath. Rongrui Building was sealed off until 8 o'clock at night, and a large number of residents were unable to return home to cook.
In the district, the owner of a bakery distributed bread to the residents to satisfy their hunger. There were also district councillors and volunteers who assisted in the distribution of water, packages and meals to provide warmth to the affected residents.

The reporter returned to Lek Yuen Village this morning. At about 10 am, more than 10:00 staff from the government laboratory and police forensic department went to the fire unit to search for evidence and investigate.
After the third-level fire alarm, the fire floor has not yet been unsealed, and there is a large amount of stagnant water left at the scene, and some residents were unable to go upstairs, so they were relocated to the community hall of Lek Yuen Village.
The staff of the community hall said that many of the affected residents have started to pack their personal belongings this morning and are ready to go home to take care of them. However, it is not yet certain how many residents will continue to live temporarily.
Neighbor Su Tai lives on the 9th floor of Rongrui Building. She said that after the evacuation yesterday, the site had not been unsealed, so she was arranged to eat in the hall, waiting for the fire fighting site and engineering personnel to inspect the building.
She described the burning unit as "soaking in the sun" and "burning a unit upstairs."
She also pointed out that residents go to the park and the Housing Authority to do the registration procedures. There are staff to check whether anyone is in the house. After the inspection is completed, they are sent to the community hall, where food, water and other materials will be provided.
The bakery staff pointed out that after the third-level fire broke out, the boss immediately called and said that he would distribute bread to the residents.

A "Han Ho Bakery" in the district also distributed bread to the affected residents yesterday to satisfy their hunger.
The clerk said this morning that the boss used to distribute bread with love, but the new crown pneumonia epidemic has been raging and the distribution of bread has been temporarily suspended. However, yesterday afternoon there was a Class 3 fire in the Rongrui Building. The boss immediately called the staff to distribute bread to the residents.
District councillor Cham Zijie posted on the Facebook page last night that he rushed back to Lek Yuen for support after the fire broke out. At that time, more than a dozen volunteers were there to help contact the affected neighbourhoods and assist the elderly to rest in the Lek Yuen Community Hall. Later, he assisted in the distribution of water, packages, and meals.
In addition, Sheng Kee B and Sham Shui Po Ming sent lunch boxes to the residents, and Hanhe Bakery also distributed bread.
