Thousands of protesters gathered today (Saturday) in London's Trafalgar Square to protest the UK's closure and social exclusion regulations aimed at halting the spread of the corona virus, and confronted police on the spot.
The demonstrators held signs that read "Is this freedom?"
And "Stop the crazy rules," and read "We will win."
This is against the background of the tightening of restrictions in various parts of the country, and disputes between the parliament and the government, which passes regulations without its approval.
Police and protesters were injured when police began operating after three hours of speeches.
Police said they intervened because the protesters refused to comply with the social distance guidelines they demonstrated.
Police confiscated amplification equipment and pulled out batons, and bottles were thrown at them during the clashes.
Several protesters were taken away with handcuffs.
"The crowd in Trafalgar Square did not comply with the risk assessment conditions they performed and endangered people by contracting the virus," the London Metropolitan Police said.

Earlier, police warned protesters against non-compliance with social alienation guidelines.
Police announced before the incident that police officers would approach those present and explain the social distance laws, but if they refused to comply with them - they would carry out enforcement actions.
At the start of the protest, police were seen at the edges of the crowd but did not confront the protesters, most of whom were not wearing masks.
"I know there is a great deal of frustration with the regulations, but they are meant to keep everyone safe from the deadly virus," said Commander Edda Adelkan, who leads the metropolitan police operations.
"By extroverting in large numbers and ignoring social distance, you are endangering your health and the health of your loved ones."
"The reason for the second wave is that it fits into the political agenda."

The protest comes against the backdrop of parliamentary preparations for a review of Corona legislation, while the government imposes new restrictions on gaining control of the plague.
Some lawmakers have criticized the government for enforcing the laws without parliamentary approval.
Earlier this week, the government ordered a night curfew from 10pm on bars and restaurants across the country, along with tightening requirements for wearing a mask and increasing fines for non-compliance.
It also banned most gatherings of more than six people, but the demonstrations are excluded from the installation as long as the organizers submit a risk assessment and comply with the rules of social distance.

Even a week earlier, thousands of protesters had arrived in the square.
Police said several police officers were injured during the incident, after a "small minority" of protesters became violent.
The death toll from the virus in the UK is the highest in Europe, with almost 42,000.
In recent weeks there has been a sharp rise in deaths, infection.
In addition to the corona laws that apply across the country, various areas have tightened restrictions on gaining control over local outbreaks.
By Monday, a quarter of Britain's 65 million people would live under stricter restrictions.
