Attempted murder in Mitzpe Ramon:

Police may appeal the decision of the Magistrate's Court in Be'er Sheva not to publish the name of the 45-year-old man, the suspect who tried to murder his wife, 31-year-old Shira Shemesh, last week in front of their one-and-a-half-year-old son.

Following Judge George Amorai’s decision, a storm erupted on social media, and despite the ban on revealing the suspect’s identity, many surfers posted his name and photo, addressing him with contempt and curses.

An officer involved in the investigation told Israel Today: "The publication of a suspect's name, as in this case or in cases of sexual offenses against women or minors, is an investigative tool. At a hearing held yesterday to extend the suspect's detention, we asked, in the public interest, "But the court decided as it did. In light of the harsh reactions from the public, we are reconsidering the decision."

During the hearing that took place yesterday regarding the extension of the suspect's detention, Judge Amorai heard his position.

"I have to wait with the publication of my details, maybe surprising things will be discovered," the suspect said.

"My wife's family has a vengeance towards me. I ask to be considered. This case needs to be thoroughly investigated in detail, and only after that should publicity be given to publicity. It is easiest to ruin a career and reputation of 45 years. I am a little surprised, what this longing to publish. "Obviously, this is not the time right now. My parents are older people. I do not need all this frustration when the situation is sensitive. Her family can find a way to advertise. Their vengeful instinct is currently something understandable."

The woman who was attacked, Shira Shemesh, asked through the police representative that the court approve the publication of her husband's name, and also gave her consent to make her name public.

She noted that she asked to publish her husband's name so the public would know what had happened to her on the eve of the holiday.

He allegedly beat her severely with a rolling pin, stabbed her about 20 times in all parts of her body and even broke all her teeth.

But Judge Amorai accepted the suspect's request - and banned the disclosure of his name.

In addition, the suspect's detention was extended until next Thursday.

The one who hit the net was Ofer Iskov, Shemesh's brother, who posted a pain-filled post on Facebook, which includes very harsh descriptions of his sister's attempted murder.

Iscove even called on the public to come out and demonstrate in protest of violence against women.

A photo of the suspect was also attached to the post in question.

"This is my ex-brother-in-law, who tried to murder my little sister while holding their one-and-a-half-year-old toddler son in her lap. He brutally attacked her with a rolling pin and a kitchen knife, a second before she left the house. He smashed her jaw and threw all her teeth out of her mouth. He started slaughtering her as you only see in the movies. And all this while my sister was talking to her parents on the phone, begging him to leave her and let her go. Nothing helped. He cut her beautiful face and broke her bones in her hands and chest - all in front of their sprawling son In blood and weeping. "

In a direct address to his brother-in-law, Iscove wrote: "So go, the 'man' you think you are, the man who keeps a hand on the weaker than him, the man who beats women. The man you think you are is just a mask, and in reality you are just another sleazy and shellfish who should not go out and see light. "Don't worry, we are stronger than you and nothing will break us."

In addition, Iscove uploaded a photo from the apartment where the murder attempt took place.

As a result, countless harsh reactions have been posted on the network against the suspect's husband, along with harsh criticism leveled at Judge Amorai for his decision.

According to Naamat chairwoman Hagit Peer, the judge's decision is unreasonable. "I call on the police to appeal the decision," she said. "It is an unreasonable decision that conveys all the wrong messages.

The judge's message to women suffering from violence is: Sit still and do not harm the 'good name' of those who abuse you. "
