Head of the Bar: about 500 thousand agencies since the beginning of the year, and we are working on developing new power of attorney bonds

The Bar Association is working on implementing the project of automating its work to link with its branches in the governorates in order to facilitate and develop the work by adjusting the nominal schedules of lawyers and reducing effort and time.

Firas Al-Faris, the head of the Bar Association, said in a statement to SANA that the number of agencies that have been organized since the beginning of the year until now has reached 500,000, while about 700,000 agencies are organized annually.

Al-Fares pointed out that the Syndicate is working on a new development of proxy bonds to be of quality paper with security characteristics that are not falsified and tampered with and controlled by serial numbers, in addition to automating agencies programs in the central union and its branches in the governorates.

The President of the Bar noted the association's project of cooperation with the United Nations to secure an electronic social service platform aimed at providing free legal advisory assistance.

And about the positive impact of the union’s decision to contract with banks to grant loans to lawyers, between Al Faris that the Syndicate has contracted this year with both the “Popular Credit Bank” and “Bemo Bank” to grant personal loans to lawyers, with the presence of two guarantors with a ceiling of one million pounds for the Popular Credit Bank loan and 3 million pounds The Bank Bemo loan is to be added to the previous agreement between the Syndicate and the Real Estate Bank to grant lawyers loans to buy offices or lawyers companies with a ceiling of 50 million pounds for the office loan and 100 million pounds for the law firm.

The number of lawyers registered in the health insurance project that was implemented by the Bar Association with the National Insurance Company during the current year reached 6,500 lawyers, and nearly 4,500 medical services were provided, and work will be done to open the door for registration in the health insurance project for a second time to serve the largest number of union members, according to Al Fares.

To that, Al-Faris indicated that the Bar Association has completed preparations for its general conference that will be held on the first of next month, in which a set of issues related to improving the status of lawyers, especially retired, will be discussed and working on developing power of attorney bonds.

It is noteworthy that the number of members of the Syrian Bar Association reaches about 31 thousand lawyers.
