Who can
cheer
after the
election result in Münster
and who is losing out?
At least for the
OB election
, this decision should probably be known on election Sunday - and there may be interim results beforehand.
As soon as the first electoral districts have finished counting an election, this can provide a clear indication of the favor with the voters.
Even if there are
no specific projections
in a
local election
, some decisions are made before the final result.
We will keep you up to date on all published figures, here in the

Local election in Münster: The result for the OB election is eagerly awaited
Münster - in
mid-September there
will be
re-election
in
North Rhine-Westphalia
: the
2020 local elections
are due.
In
Münster
,
too
, all
citizens
who
are
eligible to vote are
again
allowed to
put their crosses on the
ballot papers
.
But only one per ballot, otherwise the vote is invalid.
For the first time in
NRW
, young people aged 16 and over
are
also
eligible to vote in
local
elections.
Not only the
city council
and the five
district representatives
, but also the
mayor of
the city
will be newly elected in
Münster
on September 13th
.
The most important developments in the state can be found on election day in our news ticker for the 2020 local elections.
Results of the local elections in Münster will be counted from 6 p.m.
As in all of
North Rhine-Westphalia
, the
polling stations
in
Münster
close
punctually at 6 p.m.
on September
13
.
Then the electoral officers start counting the
votes
, which were
cast
either by postal vote or on
site
.
Only when all votes from all
constituencies have been
recorded can they announce the election results.
Usually this happens on the evening of
election day
itself. But those responsible are already asking for the understanding of the
population
if
the usual process
is delayed due to the
coronavirus pandemic
and the
safety and hygiene regulations
.
The results of the
local elections in NRW 2020 will be
available the next day at the latest
but then stuck.
In the local elections there is a clear priority for the
counting
of
votes
.
So the result is also in the local elections in Munster
Mayor election
counted first.
It starts right after the polling stations close at 6 p.m.
Only then do the election results for the city council and for the districts follow.
Thus, it will
probably already be clear
on the
evening of the election
whether a candidate has already been elected without a runoff.
As far as the
distribution of seats
in local parliaments is concerned, not every result will be available on the same day.
In the run-up to the NRW election, there was confusion about the mask requirement - also by Armin Laschet (CDU).
Local election results: Lewe runs again - does he have to go to the runoff election in 2020?
Since
2009
ruled
Markus Lewe
from the
CDU
as
mayor
in Munster Town Hall.
In his first election it was still a close match, because
Lewe
prevailed with only four percentage points in the second ballot.
In 2015
he was directly re-elected with almost 60 percent of the vote.
The plan of the
SPD
and the
Greens
is now in the
local elections in Münster in 2020
to force him to at least go back to a runoff election with the result of the first ballot.
If you believe current polls shortly before the election, the Greens are still experiencing an upswing.
Is
Peter Todeskino
, OB candidate of the
Greens
,
throwing
the long-time incumbent
Lewe
off the saddle?
We want to make Münster better.
GREEN campaign kick-off.

Death cinema
would
already have had experience
with the post of
mayor
.
After the Lord Mayor of Kiel
Torsten Albig moved
to the state parliament in 2012 and finally also became Prime Minister,
Todeskino
continued its official business.
When Albig's successor Susanne Gaschke resigned in 2013, the
lawyer
in
Kiel was
on hand.
WDR study: Greens increase significantly - What does that mean for the election result in Münster?
The
WDR
asked
around 1000 eligible voters in
Münster
by
telephone
.
Of course, the tendency of the respondents to vote indicated in the survey does not necessarily indicate their actual behavior on election day, but it does indicate a trend: the
Greens
are clearly
growing
.
In a
city council election
in Münster
they could get an election result of 30 percent of the vote and thus clearly overtake the SPD, which only comes to around 18 percent.
Compared to 2014, the
Greens
are almost 10 percent ahead of the game, while the
SPD has
lost almost 9 percent.
The
CDU
is currently holding out the survey in the case of a
city council election,
almost 36 percent.
But what result of the 2020 local elections in Münster does the survey indicate with regard to the election of the
mayor
?
Although the
Greens
can clearly
record a
boost here, the current
Mayor Lewe
still
seems
to be firmly in the saddle - and has the 50 percent mark in sight in the first ballot.
The remaining candidates for the office of town hall chief lag far behind:
Death cinema
from the
Greens
receives at least 25 percent in the survey -
Michael Jung
from the
SPD,
on the other hand, only
receives a
bitter 15 percent.
Ulrich Thoden
from the
Left
has only 4 percent.
The
supremacy
remains the
CDU
in
Münster
, if one believes the survey,
in all probability received.
A coalition of the
CDU
and the
Greens
has existed here since 2016
.
Until then, the parliamentary groups sought changing majorities in the city council.
Even after the
local elections in 2020
, the
CDU will
probably remain the strongest party - but the
Greens
could catch up significantly and
outperform
the
SPD
for the first time.
It will also be exciting to see how the new, young generation of voters will affect the
election results
in Münster.
