At TSV Peißenberg, what happened this week that everyone has feared since the resumption of training: A boy from a youth ice hockey team fell ill with Corona.

"The worst case that can happen to a club," says President Stefan Rießenberger.

These are exciting and labor-intensive times for the board members of TSV Peißenberg.

"Since ice hockey and football training has been up and running again, we've been out and about every day to see if everything is being adhered to," says the club's president, Stefan Rießenberger.

"Everything" means the rules of the hygiene protection concept that TSV Peißenberg had to present before it could resume training after the Corona break (we reported).

"That's sharper than it needs to be," says Rießenberger.

For example, in the sports facilities used by TSV Peißenberg, it is mandatory to wear a mask both indoors and outdoors.

Only when the players step onto the field are they allowed to take off their masks, says Rießenberger.

In the ice rink, too, there is a “general mask requirement.” Rießenberger and his colleagues from the club's board regularly checked that the guidelines were being adhered to.

“We regularly go to and check the sports facilities,” says the club's president.

Among other things, the distance between the sports equipment is measured and spacing lines are stuck on in the halls.

Each division had to appoint a corona officer who is responsible for ensuring that the rules are implemented in the respective divisions.

The department heads meet about every two weeks for a corona training course, during which relaxation and tightening are addressed.

“We are obliged to do this, but we meet more often than required,” says Rießenberger.

The fact that the club management takes hygiene protection very seriously and that the rules are correspondingly strict has been criticized over and over again in recent weeks, says the TSV president.

However, he and his colleagues were not impressed by it and stuck to their concept.

Rießenberger has been aware of this since Wednesday at the latest that one of the young ice hockey players was infected with the corona virus, happy: "We from the Presidium can say that we have done everything that had to be done." Even if the corona test was positive "The worst case" that could happen to a sports club.

And the full extent will only be known when all test results are available.

As reported, training and games for the next generation of ice hockey players have been canceled for the time being.

According to Rießenberger, the other divisions want to continue as long as the number of infections allows: "We work from day to day," he says.

In addition to all of these hurdles that currently have to be overcome, there is a risk of serious financial problems if the corona crisis develops like this: “For example, we have much less income from the ice rink.

That tears a pretty big hole in the till ”, says Rießenberger.

It looks similar in the other sectors.

TSV-Peißenberg has an annual turnover of around one million euros in normal years.

According to Rießenberger, all of these difficulties can only be overcome because the individual members of the board would work so well together: "We are all pulling together."
