Arab League secretary general Ahmad Abu al-Wright said that had it not been for the agreements, Trump's victory in the US presidential election would have caused Israel's immediate annexation of Judea and Samaria
Arab League Secretary-General Ahmad Abu al-Wright said in an interview with Arabic-language Sky News that the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain peace agreements with Israel are the only way to stop "Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's annexation aspirations."

"If the agreement had not been signed, Netanyahu would not have stopped the annexation. This is how we ensure the continuation of the Palestinian interest," Abu al-Wright said.
He said, "If the agreements had not been implemented, Netanyahu would have waited for the results of the US election.
"If President Trump had won, the next day Israel would have begun annexing territories in the West Bank."
"The peace agreement of the Emirates and Bahrain halted this possibility and expressed a new trajectory in the Arab world in relation to Israel. First of all give it the carrots so that there would be something to take from it if it annexed territories," he said.
