However, various pollutants, such as nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, carbon monoxide, hydrogen chloride, and heavy metals, are simultaneously produced during the old incineration process.
In 2013, the Environmental Protection Department built a new incinerator in Tseng Tsui, Tuen Mun, to meet the highest EU environmental protection requirements and emission standards. The surplus power will be exported to the grid, becoming the first integrated sludge treatment facility T•Park source area. Efforts are being made to improve waste incineration.
