By revealing just before the first debate of the presidential campaign that Donald Trump had paid only $ 750 in income tax in 2016 and 2017, and none for ten years out of the last fifteen, the American daily offers a perfect angle of attack for Joe Biden against his opponent.

Even if Trump has shown since the start of his political career an almost supernatural immunity to scandals that would have shattered that of any other elected American, and if his supporters do not give a damn about the revelations of a press that 'they consider biased, these revelations are nonetheless unfortunate for the outgoing president.
In particular, they are a blow to his image as a wise businessman and American economic patriot.
Trump has never made it a secret that he doesn't pay a lot of taxes.
"It's because I'm smart,"
he retorted in a debate during the 2016 election campaign.
