The Indian medical authorities responsible for managing the Covid 19 epidemic announced today that it is possible that more than 60 million Indians have been infected with the emerging coronavirus.
And Agence France-Presse reported that, according to official figures, more than 6.1 million Indians out of 1.3 billion people were infected, making it the second country in the world after the United States in terms of the number of infections.
"The main conclusion of these serum analyzes is that one out of every 15 individuals over the age of ten was exposed in August to the virus," the director general of the Indian Council of Medical Research, Plram Paghava, said according to AFP.
Today, the Indian Ministry of Health announced the registration of 70,589 new cases of Coronavirus in the country during the past twenty-four hours.
India has gradually lifted the very strict containment measures it imposed in March in an attempt to save its ailing economy.
