After VTCs, electric bikes (JUMP, sold to Lime) or self-service scooters (Cityscoot), the Uber platform is expanding its range of services in Ile-de-France.

The operator is launching a new “premium product” on Wednesday called Uber Moto.

Passengers in a hurry can order motorcycles (thermal and electric) and maxi-scooters (electric only) races driven by independent professional drivers, directly from the app.

Uber Moto is available "in Paris and La Défense, Neuilly, Boulogne and at airports for the moment", specifies the platform.

Initially, only customers who have joined the Uber Rewards loyalty program can benefit from it.

How much does it cost ?

As for VTC races, the Uber Moto price is based on a base price, a price per kilometer and a price per minute.

“Dynamic pricing may apply if there are more orders than drivers available and, no surprise, the prices will be transparent and displayed before confirming the order for the ride,” Uber said.

For example, a 10 km La Défense-Gare Saint-Lazare race will cost around 55 euros (excluding the price increase period).

A motorcycle or scooter race is therefore more expensive than the classic VTC.

But the use of motorized two-wheelers can be of interest in an emergency situation (delay in going to take a plane, for example).

Note: Uber motorcycles are not allowed to use rue de Rivoli, in Paris, which is exclusively authorized for taxis.

How it works ?

When the motorcycle driver arrives, he will provide you with a helmet, a cap, suitable gloves and a protective jacket if you wish.

Only one passenger is allowed - motorcycles can only handle one passenger at a time - and only one cabin baggage as well as a computer bag / case can be carried.

"The drivers always wear a mask and gloves, they disinfect all areas of contact with the passenger, prepare the equipment in advance so that the user can dress alone and maintain a safe distance during the process" , specifies Uber.

They also offer passengers disposable gloves and a hydroalcoholic gel at the end of the trip.

Passengers, in addition to the equipment described above, receive a message before each ride reminding them to disinfect their hands, to wear an appropriate coat and mask, to throw away their single-use charlotte, gloves and masks after use .

"Cash payment is not authorized and everything happens directly from the Uber application to avoid unnecessary contact," says the platform.
