Latin Grammy: J Balvin and Bad Bunny lead nominations

The Latin Grammys announced the nominations for the 21st edition of the awards. Bad Bunny and Ozuna are also among the most nominated.

The Latin Grammy Awards announced on Tuesday the nominees for the 21st edition of the awards.

J Balvin leads the list with 13 nominations.

Bad Bunny follows with nine, Ozuna with eight and Anuel AA, Josh Gudwin and Colin Leonard with seven nominations each.

Bad Bunny and Balvin have a double nomination in the category of album of the year for their albums "YHLQMDLG" by Bad Bunny, "Colores" by Balvin and "Oasis", a collaboration between both singers.

The new categories of the Latin Grammy

For this edition, the Latin Grammys unveiled three new categories in March: best reggaeton performance, best pop / rock song and best rap / hip hop song, which includes trap work.

At that time, the Latin Grammys told Zona Pop CNN through a statement that the decision was born "after multiple meetings and comments from our members."

In September 2019, artists of the urban genre joined in a protest over what they said was the lack of representation in the nominations for the twentieth awards ceremony.

Through a statement, the Latin Recording Academy announced that three other categories return to the competition after obtaining the minimum number of registrations required to be part of the ceremony.

It is the best merengue and / or bachata album, the best flamenco music album and the best contemporary classical work / composition.

The 21st edition of the Latin Grammy

In August, the Latin Grammys reported that the awards ceremony will take place in Miami on November 19.

Usually, the most important night of Latin music is celebrated in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"Music humanizes us" will be the banner of the edition, which was conceived in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic that has paralyzed the world with millions of confirmed cases and more than a million deaths worldwide.
