Rebbetzin Miriam Levinger has passed away.

Her death was determined last night (Monday), after she was hospitalized in critical condition on Yom Kippur night.

She was 83 when she died.

Rebbetzin Levinger is the widow of the late Rabbi Moshe Levinger, who died in 2015. Both were innovators of Jewish settlement in Hebron. The Rebbetzin was one of the leading wives of Beit Hadassah.

Malachi Levinger, former head of the Kiryat Arba-Hebron council, praised his mother: "Mother was a beacon of faith that taught an entire generation what self-cancellation is and what love of country is. She was a symbol and role model of devotion and pioneering, and with her own hands brought redemption to the patriarchal city. They will be written forever in the book History of the Land of Israel and the Jewish People. "

Health Minister Yoel (July) Edelstein tweeted: "The death of Rebbetzin Levinger is a severe loss for settlement in Judea and Samaria and the people of Israel.

Bows her head in her memory and shares in the grief of her 11 children who continue on her path.

I got to know her personally and listen to her stories about the beginning of settlement in Hebron.

Stories of a pioneer, with a rare devotion, who in the development of the ancestral city has a gold share.

R.I.P".

MK Ophir Sofer tweeted: "The generation of the elephants.

Many of the rights of Rebbetzin Levinger, who in her actions brought about the revival of Jewish settlement in Hebron.

Blessed be the day of truth, who will give and learn from its ways. "
