As a
police spokesman
explained on Friday, the 57-year-old man from
Magdeburg
stopped
his vehicle on
Thursday evening
at the entrance barrier to a
campsite near Göhren
and got out.
The vacationer from
Saxony-Anhalt
apparently forgot to put on the handbrake.
Shortly afterwards, the motorhome rolled backwards down the site.
The man then ran to his mobile home and tried to put the handbrake on.
According to the police spokesman, he should have slipped and been run over by his own vehicle.

With life-threatening injuries, the man was immediately
flown in
a
rescue helicopter
to a clinic in
Greifswald
, where the vacationer died shortly afterwards from his serious injuries.
The man had been out with his wife, who was unharmed.

Göhren is located in the southeast of the island of Rügen on the Mönchgut peninsula.
A similar accident occurred in Karlsruhe in July.
A camper slipped into the water during the night, a 22-year-old woman who was in the car died.
At an Italian campsite in August, a tree crashed onto a tent in which two sisters were sleeping.
Both children died.
