(CNN) -

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend lose their baby after pregnancy complications, the couple announced on their social media accounts.

"We're shocked and in that kind of deep pain that you only hear about, the kind of pain we've never felt before," says the statement posted on each of his verified Twitter accounts.

Teigen, a model and television personality, was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Sunday after revealing that she had been on bed rest and bleeding for "a little less than a month."

"We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions," the publication says.

"It just wasn't enough."

They called the baby Jack

In their first two pregnancies, the couple said in their communications that they would wait until after delivery to name the baby, but this time they had already started calling "the little one in my belly" Jack.

"He will always be Jack to us," the statement said.

"Jack worked so hard to be part of our little family and he will be forever."

The couple have two children, Luna and Miles, who were conceived through in vitro fertilization, they have said.

But this pregnancy happened naturally, something Teigen said she didn't think was possible for her.

Chrissy Teigen knew the risks of losing the baby

Although she was open about the difficulties of getting pregnant, Teigen recently said that IVF pregnancies felt "untouchable and safe" and that this pregnancy left her feeling "fragile as an eggshell."

Teigen was about halfway through her pregnancy and was bleeding significantly, she said earlier this week.

She asked fans not to diagnose her and revealed that her placenta was "very, very weak."

The couple expressed gratitude for their children and the experiences they have had.

"But every day cannot be filled with light," they said.

On this our darkest day, we will cry ourselves to tears.

But we will hug and love stronger and get through it.
