The leaders of the European Union meeting in Brussels on Friday 2 October sent Turkey a message of firmness accompanied by a threat of sanctions if it does not stop its illegal drilling in the territorial waters of Cyprus, announced the presidents European institutions.

“Turkey must stop its unilateral actions. If these actions continue, we will use all the instruments at our disposal ”
, warned the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. The firmness of the European position, demanded by Cyprus, made it possible to obtain Nicosia's agreement to adopt sanctions against those responsible for the repression carried out in Belarus.
