Three locations are available for the new indoor swimming pool in Oberschleißheim.

The most promising area seems to be a plot of 4000 square meters in the immediate vicinity of the swimming pool that is currently in use.

The council wants to make a decision in three weeks.

Oberschleißheim

- The indoor swimming pool at Professor-Otto-Hupp-Straße 26 has had its day.

Technology, hygiene, safety, fire protection - everything is missing.

Refurbishing the facility doesn't make sense, that's for sure.

The ailing building would have to be gutted almost completely.

A feasibility study assumes at least ten million euros.

The new building will cost twelve million euros.

The question of renovation or new construction does not arise.

The municipality is hoping for 4.5 million euros in public funds for a new building. The planning office commissioned by the town hall to search for a location was on the lookout for a property not too far away.

In the opinion of the planners, a similar approach will increase the Oberschleißheimer's acceptance of the new bathroom.

Variant B

From the three seemingly suitable areas, the choice fell on "Location B" (see map), 200 meters away, above the gym.

The decisive factors were questions of accessibility, the size of the property, problems with development and the pollution for and by the neighborhood.

Lot B does not belong to the municipality.

It is said that the owner is interested in a property swap.

The talks are ongoing.

With 4,000 square meters, the area even has a larger indoor pool.

The bathroom is to be expanded from 2500 to 3000 square meters.

Because of the proximity to the existing location C, the bathroom would be connected to the school and kindergarten as before.

Residential houses would not be affected by the construction work. Site B would be accessed from Hirschplanallee.

An entrance would have to be created first.

Only the existing bathroom has connections for water and electricity.

Public transport does not serve any of the three locations, school buses do.

All three properties can be reached in a few minutes on foot by bus or S-Bahn or by bike.

Variant C

A large part of the location advantages that “B” combines also apply to the existing bathroom “C”.

The new building could connect directly on the west side.

However, it is extremely uncertain whether the old bathroom can remain in operation during the work.

School and kindergarten were possibly left out, and Mayor Markus Böck (CSU) wants to avoid that, as he said.

option A

The locations “B” and the worst performing location “A” remain.

The 17,500 square meter site on the other side of Hirschplanallee belongs to two parties, including an owner association.

Whether the owners are willing to sell is just as unclear as the price.

The town hall would have to negotiate with several people.

The planners therefore recommend location B. Whether the old bathroom will actually be used during the construction phase is in the stars.

The art of improvisation has been needed for years to ensure the operation of the ailing indoor pool.

On October 22nd, the municipal council will decide.
