A masterful Toulouse first half
What a recital!
For 40 minutes, the 2019 French champions went it alone, never being worried.
Dominators in conquest, fast, precise in transmissions, intelligent in the management of playing time: Raphaël Lakafia's teammates were at the forefront of the Toulouse demonstration, rewarded with three tries: Lebel (18th), Kolbe (27th) and Tauzin (30th).
And the bill could have been even stronger ...
Selevasio Tolofua pattern size
Selevasio Tolofua never ceases to amaze observers with each of his outings.
The young third center line from Stade Toulousain, only 23 years old, once again made use of his dexterity and his physical qualities to serve as an anchor during his percussions.
He was particularly decisive on Lebel's first try (18th).
Already called up to the French team during the last tournament, but not come into play, it is certain that he will be present during the next international window.
The U20 world champions shone
It was the opening duel between Romain Ntamack and Louis Carbonel that attracted attention before the start of the meeting.
If they did not disappoint, especially the young opener from Var, they saw two other U20 world champions show all the class of their generation: Lucas Tauzin was brilliant at the center position and Matthis Lebel offered himself a double (18th, 54th).
On the Toulon side, Simon Moretti (20) and Clément Egiziano (18) sounded the revolt as soon as they came into play in the second period.
RCT's reaction
Returned at the break with a deficit of 25 points, the rout seemed inevitable for the Var decimated by injuries.
The reaction came from the bench and the youth who knew how to show courage, and to insist in the axis, clearly the Achilles heel of the Haut-Garonne defense.
Returned to thirteen length after the test of Clément Egiziano (50th), the match seemed to be totally revived.
Flops
Daniel Ikpefan, symbol of Toulon apathy in the first period
Daniel Ikpefan suffered the wrath of Patrice Collazo.
Terribly frustrated by the start of his men's meeting, the former coach of La Rochelle decided to take out the rear in the… 20th minute of play!
A brutal coaching that wanted to serve as an electric shock, and which did not really bear fruit at first.
The former oyonnaxien had been feverish on a high and poorly placed ball on several occasions in defense.
He returned to the field in the second period and participated in the recovery of his team.
Rodrigue Neti's crazy gesture
The barrier between the physical commitment required on a rugby pitch and violence is often thin.
This is what happened to the Toulouse pillar Rodrigue Neti, who distinguished himself by a clearing on Beka Gigashvili in a ruck (62nd).
The 25-year-old was logically punished with a red card, his shoulder having been in contact with the Georgian's face.
Anthony Meric's test seconds later made locals fear the worst.
