The farmers in Aleppo governorate continue to harvest the cotton crop amid expectations of a bumper season, its production is estimated at four thousand tons for this year, which have been cultivated on an area of ​​1150 hectares, while the total area planted with the crop at the country level reached 32,500 hectares, and it is expected to produce about 114 thousand tons.

Engineer Waddah Al-Qadi, Director of the Cotton Office, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that all necessary measures have been taken to receive and market the crop, as the General Organization for Cotton Ginning and Marketing has opened the doors of its ginners to receive cotton in Aleppo, and the quantities marketed so far have reached 313 tons at the governorate level and 750 tons at the country level.

El-Kady pointed out that this year's cotton production promises abundant good and an increase in productivity is expected between 20 and 30 percent from last year, which amounted to 74 thousand tons, indicating that the cotton is in good condition where insect infestations are low and there is an abundance of paralysis in addition to government support for this crop. By pricing one kilogram of beloved cotton at 700 Syrian pounds, which will lead to positive repercussions for the coming seasons, by increasing the cultivated areas and the farmers' willingness to cultivate this crop, and thus increase the yield.

He pointed to the continuous cooperation between farmers and agricultural technicians, which will bear fruit and restore this crop to its natural position locally, regionally and internationally, calling on farmers to accelerate the delivery of their production of the crop before the autumn rains and its impact on the specifications of Syrian cotton.

SANA's camera toured a number of farmers' fields in the Deir Hafer and Maskanah region and closely watched the cotton picking operations, as many farmers spread in their fields and their hands extended to harvest the fruits of white gold, collecting them in abundant yields and placing them in the shelters allocated to them in preparation for marketing them.

Engineer Shahoud Harah, head of the Cotton Department in the Aleppo Agriculture Directorate, explained that this year's cotton season is good and there is a commitment by farmers to agricultural guidelines related to planting dates and varieties and adding fertilizer to it in a timely manner, noting the good specifications that Syrian cotton enjoys, the most important of which is that it is of medium staple.

Eng. Ahmed Hussein Ahmed from the Department of Agriculture of the town of Deir Hafer said that the cultivation of the farmers' fields with the cotton crop was followed up, and the work was done to secure the production requirements of seeds and fertilizers and to follow up the growth of the crop and agricultural pests that affected some fields, as the vital enemies were distributed among the owners of the farmers, and the areas that were fought reached 13 Hectares, in addition to distributing formonium traps to monitor the status of insects and study their behavior.

And farmer Abd al-Salam al-Madhhi, owner of a cotton field in the village of Tabara Madi from the municipality of Deir Hafer, said that he planted an area of ​​10 dunums with cotton seed and adhered to the planting dates for this year and the times of irrigation and fertilization, which led to a good growth of the crop and abundant production, as he started harvesting operations and demanded to secure the fuel allocated at the beginning Agriculture, especially for the next season.

The farmer, Abdulaziz Al-Samou, said that he planted an area of ​​twenty dunums with the cotton crop for this year, and that this year's production is good and promises good, as it ended with the first harvest of the crop and started with the second, and he will work to deliver the production and market it to the cotton plant gin, calling for a reduction in the prices of production inputs, the most important of which is agricultural fertilizers.
