Most of the corona incidents on flights detected in the past two weeks occurred on flights departing from Ukraine, Belarus and Bulgaria, according to data from the Ministry of Health today (Tuesday).

The first two countries were a destination for thousands of pilgrims who flew to Uman during the holidays, despite the many warnings, while the third - Bulgaria - was a favorite vacation destination for many Israelis when flights opened, eliminating the need to return from it.

Of the 76 exposures to Corona recorded on hundreds of flights in the past two weeks, 15 occurred on flights from Ukraine and 13 from Belarus - the two countries through which most of Breslav's followers traveled on the way back and forth in training in the days before Rosh Hashanah.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, both are defined as red states compared to Bulgaria, from which it was approved to return to the country without the need for isolation.

Disagreements over the danger of infection.

The opening of the skies in mid-August and allowing flights to three green countries from which no return isolation would be required - Bulgaria, Croatia and Greece - was accompanied by concern about the risk to the host country and the limited ability to control and verify the health status of returnees.

At least in one case this concern had a justified basis.

Although Bulgaria is still defined as a green country, no less than 11 cases of exposure to Corona patients have been diagnosed on flights back from it.

In at least two cases, these were passengers who took off from Israel when they were already ill with the virus - which could indicate holes in the outline of the health declarations, or alternatively - the existence of a negative corona testing industry, reported by the State Audit Committee about two months ago.

The fourth country in the ranking is Turkey, a red country that still continues to serve as a major flight hub between Israel and Europe, and a link country on long-haul international flights.

Nine infection incidents in Corona were reported on flights from it to Israel.

Other countries on which flights were found to be sick are Israel with seven cases of infection, France and the United States with five each, Canada and Russia with three, Greece and Austria with two and Germany at the bottom of the list with one case of virus infection detected.

Head of Public Health Services: Prevention of flights to green countries - for reasons of equality

There is still no consensus among doctors and experts regarding the risk of infection in aircraft.

Staying indoors for a few hours seems like a safe recipe for mass infection, but it seems that the combination of the cabin's ventilation system, maintaining relative distance and wearing masks makes it possible to keep the infection percentage relatively low.

Evidence of the low health risk also emerged from the statement last week by the head of the public health services at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Sharon Elrai-Price, that the justification for restricting flights is more "equal" than health.
