The new cases of coronavirus contamination exceeded for the first time in Iran the 4,000 mark in one day, the day after a record daily death toll, according to official figures released Tuesday, October 6.

The number of infected people (...) amounts to 4151
" for the last 24 hours, during which "
we unfortunately lost 227 of our dear compatriots
", declared Sima Sadat Lari, spokesman for the ministry of Health, during its daily press briefing on the epidemic.
Health authorities deplored Monday 235 additional deaths from the new coronavirus in 24 hours, a figure equaling the daily death record set at the end of July.
According to official figures, the pandemic has killed 27,419 (out of a total of 479,825 people infected) in Iran, the country by far the most affected by the pandemic in the Near and Middle East.
While the situation in Tehran continues to worsen, according to the Ministry of Health, the authorities in the capital have indicated that they have decided to make it compulsory to wear a mask everywhere as soon as you leave your home from Saturday in order to contain the progression of the epidemic.
They have already closed there since Saturday, and until Friday, mosques, schools, universities, cinemas, museums, stadiums, reception halls, gymnasiums, swimming pools, zoos and cafes, and banned "
cultural and social events and conferences
" as well as the big prayers on Friday.
