The People's Assembly confirmed in its fourth session of the first ordinary session of the third legislative session held today under the chairmanship of Hammouda Sabbagh, Speaker of Parliament, that the glorious October liberation war was the biggest victory for the Arabs in modern history.

In a speech at the beginning of the session, Sabbagh explained that the council recalls on the occasion of the seventy-fourth anniversary of the October editorial epic of the heroic Syrian Arab Army led by the founding leader Hafez al-Assad, which embodied the biggest victory for Arabs in modern history because it restored the nation's dignity and pride and changed the world's view of Syria and the Arabs.

Sabbagh indicated that the October liberation exploit was not a passing event in the history of the Syrians, but rather an embodiment of the spirit of heroism, correction and redemption that they have distinguished throughout history. The United States, Zionism and their agents are in desperate attempts to undermine our country, our people, our steadfastness and the independence of its decision.

In their interventions, a number of members of the Council affirmed that the heroic October war represented a beacon for fighters in the face of the plots being hatched against this region and the world, especially against Syria, which is truly a symbol of steadfastness and national unity, indicating that this war shattered the myth of the Zionist enemy and restored the nation's dignity and glory.

A number of members of the Council indicated that Syria, since the October War, which disrupted Zionist designs, continues to work on restoring stolen rights, strengthening Arab identity and belonging, raising the banner of liberation, resistance, true independence, and not submitting to Zionism and the forces of domination and neo-colonialism.

In another context, a number of members of the Council denounced the sinister role that the Turkish regime is playing by fueling strife and tensions between the two neighboring countries, Armenia and Azerbaijan, stressing the importance of reaching a peaceful solution to the existing disputes between these two countries.

The session, which was attended by Minister of State for People's Assembly Affairs, Maloul Al-Hussein, rose to 11 pm tomorrow, Thursday.
