L214 alerts deputies to animal suffering with a shocking new video

2020-10-08T09:50:44.902Z

Before the examination of a bill on animal condition, the association unveils unbearable images shot in an intensive pig farm located in Auvergne.

Against breeding practices that generate animal suffering, deputy Cédric Villani defends a bill that will be examined in public session in the National Assembly on Thursday.

To support the statement of the elected official and to raise awareness among deputies, L214 is broadcasting new images in a pig farm located in Auvergne.

The association also announces that it is filing a complaint with the Cusset prosecutor for ill-treatment.

The images were shot in mid-July 2020 in an intensive farm located in Barrais-Bussolles in the Allier, specifies L214.

In this farm "

which has obtained authorization from the prefecture to fatten 6,000 pigs simultaneously

", the images show sick animals mutilating one another.

A pig is eaten alive by its congeners, "

unable to move away to protect itself, a pig

", underlines L214.

Corpses of animals live alongside other piglets damaged by major skin problems.

The video also reveals a pile of dead piglets.

Activists are also filming large numbers of 10-liter cans of sulfadiazine and trimethoprim antibiotics, antibiotics on the World Health Organization's essential drugs list.

The videographers also note the presence of bags of several kilograms of Amoxicillin and Doxycycline.

The animals are therefore sick despite taking medication.

A majority of French people against intensive breeding

The association deplores the unworthy and unsuitable breeding conditions for pigs.

"Why would pigs have to mutilate themselves if it were not for their breeding conditions?

It is only the conditions of rearing in the context of industrialization that have led animals to adopt behaviors such as self-harm.

The pig in these buildings is not in conditions where it can meet its basic needs ”, underlined

Cédric Villani, the rapporteur of the bill examined on October 8.

The images that we publish today are addressed to the deputies: they must have in mind the appalling reality of intensive breeding to resist the pressure of a union like the FNSEA ... Qu 'they have the courage to represent the 88% of French people calling for an end to this type of breeding.

Their votes, and those of their political groups, will be observed with attention as the next elections approach,

”warns Brigitte Gothière, co-founder of L214.

In France, today 80% of farms are intensive, which represents "

900 million animals raised in buildings without any access to the outside",

specifies L214

.

The video concludes with this appeal to deputies: “

Be there.

Vote against intensive breeding

”.

The decision of elected officials is awaited.
