Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein recorded a daily record high of 1,487 new cases of coronavirus during the past 24 hours.

Reuters quoted data from the Public Health Agency in Switzerland as saying that the total number of HIV infections in the country rose to 60,368 from 58,881 yesterday, while the death toll reached 1,794 after recording three additional deaths.

Switzerland had announced the detection of the first infection with the virus in late February, and the daily number of cases reached a peak of 1456 on March 23, but it declined sharply, reaching only three cases on the first of June.

In Britain, the Royal Buckingham Palace announced today that Princess Sophie, Countess of Wessex, wife of Prince Edward, the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth, Queen of Britain, isolated herself in her home after she had contact with someone who was found to have Corona.

A palace spokesman said that the 55-year-old princess did not show any symptoms, but she isolated herself following the government's instructions, noting that she had not had contact with any of the royal family members since then.

In Berlin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel warned against taking more severe measures if Corona infection continued to rise in the country.

Merkel indicated that "Corona virus infection and its spread in Germany have entered an unstable situation, and this is what will push the state to take strict measures in the country if the situation remains as it is within the current measures within ten days."

The number of daily infections with the Coronavirus in Germany exceeded four thousand yesterday for the first time since the beginning of last April, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 310,144 and deaths to 9578.
