Two people were killed and several others were injured in a fire that broke out after a diesel tank exploded this evening inside a bakery in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
The Lebanese National News Agency quoted the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Red Cross, George Kittana, as saying that two bodies and a number of wounded were taken to the hospital as a result of the explosion of the diesel tank, which caught fire in the Al-Rifai neighborhood on the new road in Beirut.
Kettaneh explained that a number of people suffered from suffocation and shortness of breath as a result of inhaling smoke, and they were taken to the hospital, while members of the Beirut Fire Brigade were working to evacuate people from their homes near the site of the burning tank.
Civil defense vehicles and the fire brigade came to put out the fire, while the Lebanese army hit a security cordon around the site of the explosion.
