New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Arden's Labor Party is on track for a big victory in next week's parliamentary elections, after succeeding in the fight against the corona virus.
According to a 1News-Colmar Brunton poll, which was closely followed in the country, the ruling party holds a double-digit gap over the Conservative National Party, the largest in the opposition.
With 47% support, she could get 60 seats in parliament - one less than the number that would allow her to rule alone.
She is currently sitting in a somewhat unusual coalition, with the Green Party on one side and the right-wing New Zealand First Party.
According to the poll published on Thursday, the Conservative Party wins 32%, although its tough leader Judith Collins claimed to have won two clashes she had with Arden live.
Arden's popularity as the preferred candidate for prime minister fell by 4% to 50%, while Collins remained at 53% unchanged.
All other recent polls point to a victory for the Labor Party, which wants a second consecutive term.
