In order to improve the electrical reality and meet the citizens' need for electric energy, the electricity workshops in Sayeda Zainab in Rural Damascus are working to repair faults and periodic maintenance of networks and transformers and put new transmission centers in service in a number of neighborhoods in preparation for the winter season and in response to the increasing demand for electric power.

SANA camera monitored the reality of work in the area, where the head of the emergency office, Ahmed Awad, stated that work is divided into shifts that start at eight in the morning until eleven at night, and that most complaints are received at prime time due to the increased loads on the network that lead to cutting off the electrical current and disconnecting it in more than one place .

Awad pointed to the need for citizens to cooperate with the Electricity Department to maintain the electrical network and reduce consumption and loads in homes to avoid interruptions and burning cables that have become difficult to obtain in light of the blockade imposed on Syria, calling on citizens to seek the help of emergency workers and not resort to addressing the interruptions themselves in order to preserve their health.

Technical worker Rami Nader indicated that he and his comrades carry out regular maintenance work for centers and transformers in preparation for the winter in which there are increased discontinuities and power disconnection due to the increase in loads on the network, while citizen Osama Hassan saw that the electricity situation in the region is not in the required manner compared to the rest of the countryside where it is cut off at times Al Wasl more than once.

In terms of service delivery and delivery in the manner required for citizens, citizen Muhammad Saleh, from the region’s residents, noted the speed with which the department’s workers respond, and upon receiving a complaint they process it within the available capabilities.

Eng. Ahmed Al-Ahmad, Head of Mrs. Zeinab Department, explained in a statement to SANA's delegate that the electricity situation is constantly improving and rationing is almost constant, except for the loss of tension outside our control, pointing to the impact of the blockade imposed on Syria and its repercussions on the electricity sector, especially the import of materials and equipment necessary for the maintenance of the network and the fuel needed to generate energy .

Al-Ahmad indicated that a number of new transmission centers have been put into service in the reconstruction areas, as the electrical network has been rehabilitated in the Diyabiyya and Al-Husayniyyah areas, and a number of new transfer centers have been installed with different capacities in Al-Balad, Al-Mashtal and Zulekha in Yalda, pointing out that the 36th tank has been rehabilitated, repaired and operated Beit Saham, in addition to placing Center No. 16 in Babila, into service, indicating that work is underway to extend the networks for Fayez Mansour 5 and Amras reservoir 13 to be ready to operate during the next week.

Al-Ahmad indicated that the Rural Electricity Company provides them with all work requirements and there are 200 thousand meters in the process of arrival, explaining that for citizens who lost their electric meters, they must clear the financial debts of their meters to install alternative meters for them.

As for the collection, Al-Ahmad revealed that the collection during the previous months decreased to 54 percent as a result of the Corona pandemic and by the efforts of the department's workers it was raised to 66 percent and we are seeking to reach 70 percent, indicating that more than 700 domestic and commercial electricity importing seizures have been organized and referred during the last period to the legal department of the company .

Regarding the department's preparations for the winter season, Al-Ahmad explained that the sector is large and they have 155,000 subscribers, and treatment of faults has started before they happen, and work has been started to maintain lines and cables, rehabilitate switching centers, and maintain bases and fuses.
