In Sendling, cars have been victims of vandalism for a few days.

More than 30 car owners have already filed a complaint.

Now the hunt for the culprit begins.

  • A car hater is apparently up to mischief in Munich * - dozens of vehicles have already been scratched in Sendling.

  • The police have already recorded more than 30 reports.

  • An appeal from an affected person is also directed at young parents.

Munich - Drivers who

have parked

their car on the side of the road near

Implerstraße

often experience a nasty surprise on their return these days:

Long scratches run

across the entire passenger side.

The police have already received

more than 30 reports

from Sendling!

The damage is immense and residents like Patrick Mende are sounding the alarm.

"This is no longer a stupid-boy prank," said the 45-year-old.

His white BMW 2 Series Active Tourer was also damaged.

Since the

scratches on the vehicles

regularly appear on the right side, those affected suspect that someone is ratcheting

along the vehicles

with a key or other sharp object as they

pass.

According to previous estimates by Mendes, who works at BMW, the damage amounts to around 5000 euros for large scratches and around 1000 for smaller ones.

"We are not afraid here now,

Sendling

is a safe and beautiful district," emphasizes the family man.

Munich-Sendling: The hunt for car scratchers begins - request for notification of reimbursement

He hopes, however, that the police will soon

find

out about the car scraper and appeals to everyone

to keep

their

eyes open

and to report to the police if anyone sees anything suspicious.

The

hunt for the car scraper

begins!

In addition, everyone should file a complaint that finds scratches on his car.

According to Mende, some residents have already

reacted

to the

vandalism

and would no longer park their vehicles in the affected area.

Since it is theoretically possible that the

vehicles were not willfully damaged

, the 45-year-old also thinks it makes sense for

parents to talk to their children

.

Maybe the boys and girls heard something on the way to school.

Munich-Sendling: Police are investigating the accumulation of scratched vehicles

The police confirmed the number

of scratched vehicles

around Implerstraße and investigated.

All brands and price classes are included in the vehicles concerned, according to police spokesman Oliver Barnert, no pattern can be derived from this.

He stresses that the

cars were all properly parked

when they were damaged.

The police are currently more present in the area and regularly check for abnormalities.

If a car

scraper is

caught, he faces

imprisonment

and high claims for recourse.

In the case of a convicted perpetrator in Schweinfurt, for example, who had damaged 406 cars, the damage amounted to more than 440,000 euros.

The April 2020 verdict: two and a half years in prison.
