Avoid the spread of Covid-19 while France is hit hard by a second wave?

The 300 or so young people in their twenties gathered for a dance evening in an exotic restaurant in Boissy-Saint-Léger (Val-de-Marne) obviously had nothing to do with it.

Their program last Friday night?

Enjoy a Creole buffet and dance the ragga dancehall to bouyon music

(Editor's note: Caribbean rhythms),

without mask, without barrier gestures, stuck tight, crowded to more than 300 while the establishment had to reduce its gauge to 150 seen the epidemic.

This is the scene on which the police fell on October 10, around 1:30 a.m.

It took place at Saveurs West Indies, rue de la Pompadour.

The officials had been called in for the nighttime commotion.

They've been here several times in the past, for the same reason.

Cluster in power and barricade in the street

But this time, the manager has exceeded the limits: no respect for health instructions and a giant cluster in power.

The police forces came in large numbers to evacuate the premises.

But after a while, the spirits heat up.

About fifty young people create a barricade in the street with garbage cans and throw bottles at the police.

The latter responded with de-encirclement grenades, flash balls and tear gas.

Three suspects are taken into custody.

One of them will admit the facts and receive a plea-guilty procedure.

“Apparently, it was a big night,” says the manager of the neighboring First Class hotel.

We got calls to book rooms that night, people were telling us that was really a big thing.

We refused because this clientele has already caused us concern: very alcoholic, aggressive, insulting, leaving a mess everywhere.

"

Administrative closure soon notified

“The organizers - young people - had contacted me to have this evening in my restaurant, testifies the manager of the neighboring restaurant, the DailyCe.

I categorically refused because it is very vulgar music and dance.

Considering the audience that goes with it, this kind of evening necessarily turns out badly.

I told my colleague to avoid, this is really not the time with the epidemic.

He didn't want to listen to me and probably accepted to do business.

But by force, we all risk closing!

The key under the door is indeed what the Saveurs West Indies risks.

According to our information, a one-month closure of the establishment should quickly be notified to its managers.

"The case will be settled in the coming days", we warn the prefecture of Val-de-Marne.

The manager was summoned to the police station.

He also canceled the evening scheduled for Saturday.

However, when our newspaper asks him about the events of Friday evening, he denies outright.

“Nothing in particular happened.

The police just passed for a badly parked car, ”he assures us with aplomb.

A summons to the police station?

“Not at all, I would know otherwise.

It was not here, surely at DailyCe, ”he even dares to claim.

"We don't want good students to think they're bad"

The Saveurs West Indies will not be the first establishment sanctioned for failing to comply with the restrictions imposed to limit the spread of Covid-19.

Over the past two months, the Val-de-Marne prefecture has reported 500 checks on restaurants, drinking establishments and other shisha bars.

These transactions gave rise to 349 reports (drawn up against clients and managers), 104 formal notices and 14 notifications of administrative closures.

"A dozen other [closures] are in the pipeline," says the prefecture, which recognizes "putting pressure on the world of catering" to ensure strict application of the regulations: "The idea is not to close everything, but only to go after those who do not play by the rules.

We don't want good students to think they're bad.
