Classical Arabic instrumental music with its basic forms and oriental songs from the poem and the muwashah was the essence of a five-year evening “Music from the Soul of the East,” which was hosted by the Dar Al-Assad drama theater for culture and arts.
In harmony, he addresses the autumn nights through pure Syria’s fingertips. The quintet, which consists of Maestro Adnan Fathallah Oud, Muhammad Namik Cello, George Tannous Violin, Mazen Hamza Iqaa and Hakam Khaled Qanun, with the participation of singers Sylvie Suleiman and Ryan Jarra, presented a rich program, some composed by Fathallah, and presented a new piece of music entitled Dream Written by Muhammad Namiq.
Musical pieces composed by Fathallah, in various musical forms, carried titles of Sama'i Kurd, Atefa, Lunga Hijaz, Sama’i Nahwand, and the inspiration of Damascus and Caprice No. 1, while he performed the song of Yansma Tasri, composed by the late musician Farid al-Atrash, while the selfie of the goddess sang composed by Zakaria Ahmed and the quintet played an instrument piece Entitled Sirtu Sultan Bekah written by Saeed Ashley
In a statement by Sanna, Maestro Fathallah explained that the five-star music of the soul of the East aims to preserve the molds of classical Arab music and to present new works that are in line with modern developments in the field of music, pointing out that this evening is the seventh of the five, which created a state of development and harmony between the performers that made them take the second step It is the recording of their music production on a CD and filming it later.
It is noteworthy that the quintet includes professional Syrian musicians, both teachers and alumni of the Higher Institute of Music, who have taken it upon themselves to present classical Arabic instrumental music within its forms of Sami, Longa and Dulab, in addition to performing classical Arabic songs.
