Paying a monthly subscription in exchange for three trips a year to surprise destinations is the proposal of a young British company that has just won the South Summit Competition

South Summit is an innovation and business development platform that connects

start-ups

(innovative companies) with investors from around the world.

It annually holds a convention, the third and last edition of which took place in Madrid on October 6.

One of the star activities of these congresses is the South Summit Competition, a contest in which the most innovative emerging companies from different sectors participate without taking into account the stage of development they are in or the country of origin.

A great showcase to give visibility to projects, obtain new clients, obtain financing or achieve new business opportunities.

And, obviously, among those sectors, there is tourism.

Alex Tomlinson and Gregory Geny, co-founders of the startup BeRightBack (BRB).

The winner in this South Summit Competition 2020 in the travel and tourism section was the British BeRightBack (BRB) for creating in 2018 the first travel subscription company in the world, cataloged as the 'Netflix for travel' by

The Daily Telegraph

.

Although in reality, the websites where you pay for a surprise trip have been around for a long time.

The originality of this is the subscription model.

The idea is simple and is similar to that of pay TV platforms, hence the nickname of the London newspaper.

You pay a monthly rate of 49.99 pounds (55.33 euros) and, in exchange, you have the right to three getaways to more than 60 European destinations, with flights and two hotel nights included.

You can travel throughout the year, except on school holidays.

The hotels they offer are located in city centers, are at least three stars and have a customer rating of at least 3.5 on TripAdvisor.

The funny thing is that the user defines their travel preferences when they register on the platform, which include the types of getaways they prefer, the destinations they want to discover and the airports they want to fly from (even with flight schedules). preference).

And ready.

The rest is handled by the BRB algorithm.

One month before the trip, the subscriber receives a postcard revealing the destination of their trip along with a handwritten message with personalized recommendations.

The user can choose between two types of subscription, Go Solo for 49.99 pounds per month and Go Together, for 89.99 pounds per month (99.59 euros), which includes a surprise trip every four months in which they choose the dates and can add a companion.

At the moment it only works from airports in the United Kingdom, but the idea of BRB is to extend it to more countries.

They guarantee that destinations are never repeated.
