The Geretsrieder River Rats could not make up a 0: 4 deficit in the first section on Friday evening and were defeated by the championship favorites TEV Miesbach 2: 4.

  • The sick trainer Rudi Sternkopf was represented on the gang by the 2nd chairman Peter Holdschik

  • New signing Marek Haloda scored his first goal for the River Rats

- You shouldn't allow yourself something like that against the reigning Bayern League champions: Against TEV Miesbach, the Geretsried ice hockey team slept through the first third yesterday evening, then fought their way back into the game and ended up with 2: 4 (0: 4, 2: 0, 0: 0) losing out.

"At the beginning we were far too far away from our opponents", stated Peter Holdschik, who coached the River Rats on behalf of the sick Rudi Sternkopf.

The team then did not let themselves down and made the encounter open.

"We also worked out a lot of good chances, but didn't use them," said the ESC vice-president.

The home side were caught cold at the beginning and were already 3-0 down after just seven minutes.

The ex-Geretsrieder Max Hüsken then added the 0: 4 in the 18th minute.

"Too many simple goals conceded," criticized Holdschik.

In the second section, Miesbach shifted down a gear and also had some penalties.

“The phase was really chaotic for us,” said TEV coach Ivan Horak after the match.

The River Rats alone made one goal out of a number of good opportunities when Marek Haloda scored 4-1 (28th) - also the first goal of the season for the Czech newcomer.

However, Miesbach's goalkeeper Timon Ewert was just as in top form as his counterpart Martin Morczinietz.

After Josef Reiters 2: 4 (35th), the home side drew courage again for the final third.

But first the ESC had to survive a 3-5 shortfall and in the end the removal of the goalkeeper in the final minutes did not bring anything more.

“In the end we were a bit lucky today,” admitted Ivan Horak.
