On Monday of last week Pino Solanas was received by Pope Francis at the Vatican, with whom he discussed issues inherent to the international body, poverty and climate change.
Francisco and Solanas met for an hour and a half in the papal residence of Casa Santa Marta, where they had an "excellent and very cordial talk," as the former senator indicated after the meeting.
The Argentine diplomatic representative conveyed to the pontiff the lines that he will seek to implement at the embassy before Unesco.
In particular, Solanas described to Jorge Bergoglio the agency's initiative to convene a series of virtual talks.
"The first of the talks, at my proposal, will be dedicated to the issue of climate change and poverty," Solanas told Francisco, who showed his "interest" in the initiative and ratified his support.
During the meeting, in which the ambassador's wife, Angela Correa, also participated, Solanas invited the Pope to participate in some of the virtual events that will be presented by the Director General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay.
