Five European countries condemned the Israeli occupation entity’s plan to establish thousands of new settlement units in the West Bank and demanded that it stop immediately.
The foreign ministers of Germany, France, Britain, Italy and Spain affirmed in a joint statement issued today, and AFP reported that the expansion of settlements constitutes a violation of international law and increasingly threatens the possibility of establishing an independent Palestinian state and achieving a settlement between the Palestinians and "Israel".
Yesterday, European Union foreign policy commissioner Josep Borrell confirmed that the plan to establish thousands of settlement units in the West Bank violates relevant international resolutions and undermines the chances of establishing a Palestinian state, calling for an end to settlement occupation schemes and the demolition and seizure of Palestinian homes.
Within the framework of its open war against the Palestinian presence in the West Bank to implement the colonial annexation plans, the occupation authorities announced during the past few days plans to establish more than 12,000 settlement units in the West Bank during the year 2020.
