Israel and Bahrain are expected to sign a "joint statement on the establishment of peace and diplomatic relations" on Sunday, Walla!

NEWS Senior Israeli and American officials.

The announcement will be signed in Manama by senior officials from Israel and Bahrain under the auspices of US Treasury Secretary Steve Manuchin and White House envoy Avi Berkowitz, and will deal, among other things, with establishing full diplomatic relations and opening embassies.

Senior Israeli officials noted that the two-page joint statement would be a kind of interim agreement between the two countries - a step on the way between the "peace declaration" signed at the White House on September 15 by Prime Minister Netanyahu and Bahrain Foreign Minister Abdel a-Latif a-Ziani and a signature On "peace contract" inclusive.

"The goal is to start implementing the White House peace declaration, putting more meat into it, detailing it and defining the general principles of relations between the two countries," a senior Israeli official said.

"The joint announcement will be the framework under which a series of agreements will be signed in various areas."

Apart from establishing diplomatic relations and opening embassies, the joint statement will state that the two countries will not take hostile actions against each other and will act to prevent hostile actions by a third party.

The announcement will further emphasize that the two countries are committed to coexistence and peace education.

In addition, the announcement will define a list of about ten areas in which agreements will be signed between the countries: investment, civil aviation, tourism, trade, science and technology, environment, communications and mail, health, agriculture, water, energy and legal cooperation.

At the request of Bahrain: gradual progress

Walla!

NEWS It was learned that Bahrain's representatives were the ones who wanted to sign an interim agreement in the form of a "joint declaration" and not a full "peace treaty".

The reason for this was Bahrain's internal criticism of the normalization process vis-à-vis Israel and the desire to move forward more gradually than the United Arab Emirates.

Israel agreed to the Bahraini request.

It is still unclear which members of the Israeli delegation that will arrive in Manama on Sunday will sign the "joint announcement" on the part of Israel - Foreign Ministry Director General Alon Ushpiz or National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat. Although this is a "joint announcement" and not a "peace treaty" It is also expected to reach the approval of the government and perhaps even the approval of the Knesset.

Along with advances in front of Bahrain, yesterday the Knesset plenum approved the treaty with the United Arab Emirates, with the support of 80 MKs versus 13 opposed. Once approved by the Knesset, it will return to the government to ratification and shall enter into force only at the end of the ratification process well in UAE.

During The debate, which lasted eight and a half hours, was attended by more than a hundred Knesset members. Each speaker was given four minutes, when, exceptionally, according to the Knesset committee's decision, non-Knesset ministers and deputy ministers could also participate in the debate.

"This is a day like few in Israel.

"We are bringing a peace agreement, it does not contain secret side letters, it does not contain any secret appendices," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at the meeting.
