Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, one of the leaders of the ultra-Orthodox community, tonight (Saturday) ordered the opening of the ultra-Orthodox educational institutions for boys starting tomorrow.
These are Talmudic Torah in which most students are over the age of six, contrary to the guidelines that prohibit the opening of these institutions.
The rabbi's entourage noted that he called for adherence to the rules of distance, masks and disinfection.
The rabbi's instruction was given last week, as first published in Walla!
NEWS, but due to efforts by rabbinical and political elements, the rabbi's order has been suspended in an attempt to exhaust dialogue with the government and professionals on consensual opening.
Maj. Gen. Roni Noma, the ultra-Orthodox project in Corona on behalf of the Ministry of Health, was asked last week about the intention of ultra-Orthodox elements to allow the opening of primary educational institutions, contrary to guidelines, and said in response that professionals "do not see Torah studies open in the coming days."
Noma claimed that "we are asked to open - but we can not allow it."
The director general of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Hezi Levy, said that the existence of studies in the ultra-Orthodox cities, which are mostly considered red, is a "danger," in his words.
