Masks used to hide drugs or, by removing the underwire to be tightened to the nose, to open the handcuffs. The alarm started from Interpol and passed to the Ministry of the Interior which sent a circular to all the police headquarters in Italy and to the other police forces.

"We have not yet had cases of opening the handcuffs - reads the document - but we invite all operators to pay the utmost attention in the phases of arrest, transport and surveillance of people subject to police control. At the moment the reports have arrived from the abroad". A video from Brussels has also been attached showing how the underwire can be used to open handcuffs.
