French police today arrested eight people during a new demonstration of the yellow vest movement in Lyon, France, to protest President Emmanuel Macron's financial policy.
According to the French newspaper Le Figaro, the police used tear gas and jet bombs to suppress the protesters, whose number was estimated by the municipality of Lyon at five hundred.
The demonstrators in the French city renewed their protests at the call of the Yellow Jackets movement, condemning Macron's financial and economic policies.
The yellow vest protests began in November 2018 after a wave of public anger over the increase in fuel taxes and the policies of President Emmanuel Macron's government, but despite the cancellation of those taxes later, the movement continued and turned into a broader protest against the government.
