Prime Minister's Statement - Live
Tonight (Saturday), Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on the ultra-Orthodox public not to violate the Corona directives and to open educational institutions in violation of the directives.
Netanyahu made the remarks in a statement issued ahead of the entry into force of the midnight closure.
"I ask the ultra-Orthodox public to keep the guidelines. The Torah sanctifies life," Netanyahu said.
His remarks come against the background of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky's call to open the yeshivot.
"We are leaving the quarantine carefully and according to the outline of the Ministry of Health - also in everything related to the red cities or the ultra-Orthodox public. I did not agree to any concession," Netanyahu noted.
He said, "We will maintain a crown around the red cities. I want them to become green cities. I do not want the morbidity from the red cities to spill over to the rest of the population."
