Research has revealed the amount of bacteria that live under your rings - how to clean your jewelry at home (Est1897)

The corona plague greatly increased awareness of cleanliness and hygiene and caused most of us to wash our hands much more and also disinfect our personal belongings.

But every day we come in physical contact with a variety of objects that can carry bacteria and dangerous bacteria.

Est1897, a company that specializes in diamonds, decided to take the initiative and test how much cumulative dirt on our jewelry during the routine and conducted research on the subject.

According to their results, the jewelry may contain 428 times more bacteria than the toilet in the toilet - and that is after only one week that we wear them.

As part of the experimental process, the experts took samples of a ring, watch and pair of earrings after wearing them for a week.

They found that the jewelry grew around 21,000 bacteria, some of them very dangerous including bacteria that can cause mouth fungus.

Of all the jewelry tested, it was found that the ring contained the most bacteria, followed by the watch and then the earrings.

Ben Jarrett, one of the initiators of the study, said: "This study has provided interesting findings and the results are quite amazing. Although it is very important to maintain the value and prestige of the jewelery, it is also very important to clean and maintain them as hygienic as possible."

As a result of the research, its initiators demanded to be much more vigilant in handling jewelry and shared its video (which you can see at the top of the article) with four simple steps to help us clean and disinfect them.

So how do you clean your jewelry?

Step 1 - To get started, you will need to create a cleaning solution.

Mix a few drops of dishwashing liquid with warm water.

Mix them in a plastic vessel or pot that is large enough to put a toothbrush into.

To get started, soak the jewelry in the solution for 30 minutes.

Step 2 - Take a toothbrush and put it in the solution, making sure all the bristles are wet.

Then, gently scrub around the jewel using the brush, making sure you go into all the engravings and all the corners.

Once you are sure you have scrubbed all the areas, you will need to rinse the jewel with clean, cold water.

Make sure you rinse well so that no soap residue remains.

Step 3 - After thorough rinsing, use a soft and preferably lint-free soft cloth to rub the jewelry.

For particularly dirty areas, create a new cleaning solution and use a new cloth dipped in the solution to clean the entire surface.

You need to repeat this process regularly for best results.

Step 4 - Finally, boil water in a kettle.

Using long tweezers, hold your jewelry carefully and at a safe distance from the kettle key when it comes to a boil to give the jewelry a glossy finish in steam cleaning.
