Twenty years after the establishment of a European directive governing electronic commerce on the Old Continent, the European Commission is examining the Digital Services Act on Monday in plenary session, a new text which should make it possible to better regulate digital services.
A necessity because, since the 2000s, the growth of online commerce and platforms has been spectacular.
Many discussions and themes will be discussed until December 2, when the European Commission must publish its proposals.
For Christian Peugeot, president of the manufacturers' union (Unifab) - an association that brings together more than 200 companies and professional federations in the defense of intellectual property rights -, and Richard Yung, senator and president of the National Anti-counterfeiting Committee (Cnac), a public body, one of the challenges will be to strengthen the legislation around online counterfeiting.
