The King and Queen of the Netherlands returned to the country on holiday after one day, following public outrage towards the palace with the country’s entry into a partial closure due to the corona plague.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima flew to Greece on Friday, but returned yesterday (Saturday) evening, even though they did not break any law.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte is under pressure to explain what advice was given to members of the royal family.

They were criticized for going on holiday, while citizens were urged to stay in homes as much as possible due to blocking the second wave of the virus.

They returned on a regular KLM flight last night and clarified: "We do not want to leave any doubts about this - in order to curb the Cubid-19 virus, one has to follow the instructions. The discussion about our vacation does not contribute to that."

Meanwhile, the number of people infected with corona in the Netherlands continues to rise.

Yesterday, more than 8,000 new cases were diagnosed, a new daily record.

To curb the outbreak, bars, restaurants and coffee shops closed for four weeks.

The monarchy in the Netherlands is symbolic and is under the responsibility of the Ministry of General Affairs, headed by the Prime Minister responsible for the statements and actions of the royal family.

Due to this, some MPs called on Rota to explain why he did not advise the king and the container to cancel their leave.

"If Rota had said it was a bad idea, it could be assumed the King would have changed his plans," said Peter Rovinkel of the Labor Party.

The Green Party leader said the trip was a "misjudgment" and their return to the country "is the only right decision".

This is not the first time the royal couple has been criticized for their behavior.

In August they were photographed violating social alienation regulations during another visit they made to Greece.

This is while their annual budget is under scrutiny due to increasing pressure from opposition parties.
