First Lady Melania Trump has canceled her first campaign appearance alongside US President Donald Trump in almost two months.

Melania Trump suffers from a "persistent cough" and will not travel out of caution, said her spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham.

But after her recovery from Covid-19, she is doing better every day.

Melania Trump was supposed to accompany her husband to his campaign event on Tuesday evening (local time) in Erie in the embattled state of Pennsylvania.

Melania Trump last campaigned for the re-election of her husband with a speech in the Rose Garden of the White House at the Republican Congress on August 25.

Otherwise she held back noticeably during the election campaign.

Other Trump family members, on the other hand, appear again and again in the election campaign.

Donald and Melania Trump tested positive for the corona virus in early October.

While the President was hospitalized for three days, his wife stayed in the White House.

The 14-year-old son Barron was also infected, but remained symptom-free, according to his mother.

Last week, Melania Trump then stated that she had now tested negative for the virus.

About the course of the disease, she said that she had been diagnosed with "minimal symptoms" - but that they all occurred at the same time.

"It seemed like a roller coaster of symptoms in the days that followed," wrote the ex-model from Slovenia.

"I had body aches, coughs, and headaches, and I felt extremely tired most of the time."

President Trump, who in his own words "healed", has already fully entered the election campaign and has been holding campaign events for more than a week.

Two weeks before the November 3rd election, the 74-year-old Republican is behind his Democratic challenger Joe Biden in polls - including in the very important key state of Pennsylvania.
