Delays, overloaded trains ... train users between Oise and Paris are "on edge"

2020-10-21T18:18:57.318Z

TER users deplore a continuous deterioration of the service, in particular on the “Picard Y” where the regularity of trains is deteriorating.

When Marie-Ange is asked to testify about her daily life as a SNCF user, this resident of Oise makes an appointment aboard the "6:31", between Creil and Paris Nord.

"If you can get in and sit down," she warns.

You will realize the hell that users have been going through for over ten years.

"

Like her, more and more travelers to Paris are protesting against their transport conditions.

Like Thomas, 36, who, for six years, takes his train every morning from Saint-Just-en-Chaussée.

“That of 6:10 am, if all goes well, or from 4:54 am in case of concern on the line,” says the one who works in the public service in Paris.

"The health crisis and the overloading of trains add fatigue"

As a regular, he also deplores a continuous deterioration in service.

“It has gradually deteriorated, assures Thomas.

Delays, breakdowns or reduced-dial trains… These things have become almost daily.

We are frequently glued to each other with barrier gestures that are more or less respected.

When they arrive at Creil, everyone is piled up.

The users are on edge and it happens that some already warm up a bit on the platform… The departure is already very early, but the health crisis and the overload of trains add fatigue and bring a little more nervousness.

"

Tom, a young Compiégnois making the daily return trip between Paris and the imperial city, does not say anything else.

"It's a succession of small delays, from morning to night," he breathes.

It's around 5 to 20 minutes, but it's extremely frustrating.

Beyond the delays, the trains are very often dirty and not repaired.

Above all, every morning, there is an enormous lack of space with travelers having to remain standing, glued together, their masks often below their noses… ”

“Customers demand even better service than what they usually asked for,” agrees Florent Martel.

But since the start of the school year, there has not been optimal functioning even if, today, the decline has begun.

“Except that users still have a few dark days in mind, or sometimes almost no train has run because of breakdowns on the tracks.

The “Y Picard” problem

The situation is particularly tense on the famous “Y Picard”, which converges, from Amiens (Somme) and Saint-Quentin (Aisne), towards Creil before heading back down to Paris.

Axes where the offer remains "extremely fragmented", regrets the SNCF.

“Over a day, there are 38 Paris-Amiens, with 15 different missions

(Editor's note: journeys that differ depending on the number of stations served)

.

This lace offer ends up upsetting the system.

We responded to conflicting requests, with politicians who wanted a life-size RER.

But the rail, the simpler it is, the more robust it is.

A "lace offer" which weighs, too, on the regularity of trains, according to the railway company.

On the Paris-Saint-Quentin, the regularity rate thus never exceeds "90%", gauges the SNCF.

And since September, the group estimates it at “rather 84%”.

Figure which, at peak hours, drops significantly, according to travel associations, even if the figures are not known.

User associations who also do not fail to point the finger at this very degraded re-entry on the rails of the Oise.

"It is clear that this re-entry, the TER service, which already shines by a recurring non-quality on certain axes, is much worse than normal", denounces the National Federation of associations of transport users (Fnaut) .

"The situation is serious and they are aware of it"

Monday, yet another meeting between the region, SNCF and associations, once again allowed the various groups to express their dissatisfaction.

"The situation is serious and they are aware of it," said Nora Muller, founder of the SNCFVamtuer collective.

During this meeting, there was an admission of failure on the part of the SNCF.

But this time, we have the feeling that they will go all out.

"

Thursday November 5, the collective has already planned to mobilize on the occasion of the visit to Hauts-de-France of Jean-Pierre Farandou, boss of the SNCF, as a "mystery shopper".

“We do not yet have the details of his trips, but we will be there,” promises the association.
