The Secretary for Education, Yeung Yun-hsiung, responded to a question from the Legislative Council Member of the Federation of Trade Unions, Kwok Wai-keung, today (21). Since the anti-regulation incident from June last year to early October this year, the bureau has received 25 cases of suspected bullying of police officers’ children. This includes complaints and expressions of dissatisfaction.
Yang Runxiong pointed out that the school has handled these cases in accordance with the guidelines of the Education Bureau, took care of the emotions of the students involved, provided appropriate counseling, and explained the incident to the parents.
In the complaint cases established after investigation, the school has taken disciplinary actions against the teachers or students involved, and the Education Bureau has also followed up investigations and taken actions on the cases involving teachers.

Yang Runxiong: "Zero tolerance" for bullying in schools
Yang Runxiong said that the Education Bureau has always adopted a "zero tolerance" policy for discrimination, bullying and violence on campus, and will never accept bullying in any form or for any reason, and remind schools to pay attention to the performance and behavior of their students from time to time. People should not engage in acts of hatred, bullying, or even violence because of different positions, different political opinions, or family occupations and backgrounds.
Yang Runxiong said that the authorities also remind schools to pay special attention to students who are more likely to be bullied at different times, including the emotions of the children of Hong Kong police officers during social incidents, pay attention to how they get along with their classmates, and take care to protect students and their families. The personal information of any student may not be disclosed to the outside world.
Regarding cases of suspected bullying of police officers’ children resulting from social incidents, the Hong Kong Police Force and the Education Bureau have established a notification mechanism. If the Police Force receives a case, it will forward the case to the Education Bureau for follow-up.
